The research infrastructure of Human Well-Being and Development (HUMRE) was founded by two well-established departments of Vilnius University: The Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Natural Sciences (which has been recently reorganised into the Institute of Biosciences at the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University).

The purpose of this infrastructure is to provide excellent conditions for conducting high quality interdisciplinary research in the area of human well-being and development both at the national and international levels. Fulfilment of this goal necessitates us to ensure the availability of scientific data for researchers, to give generous access to research hardware, software and other material and non-material scientific research instruments. In addition to that, we also provide all the necessary research, educational and technical services for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students as well as independent researchers and scientists. At the same time, we strive to improve the expertise both of national and international academic community in the aforementioned research areas.

By the decree of the Scientific Council of Lithuania (7th of July 2014, No. VIII-22) HUMRE infrastructure was included into the updated version of Lithuanian Research Infrastructure Roadmap.
